Camry in 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series
By Alfred Johnson

For the 2007 Toyota Camry Nascar Nextel Cup Series, there are several interesting racing teams entering the competition; these are: a veteran race team with close to 20 years of stock car experience, another with an owner who has been driving race cars for the past two decades and a third one totally new team.

A former Nascar series champion, Jarrett will drive one of Michael Waltrip's two cars. American automakers have been bracing for Toyota's arrival, which is expected to bring a flood of cash into the car racing sport in an effort to win hastily and lure top talent. But even with Waltrip who will be one of the three inaugural car owners, Toyota has yet to lock an entry.

Back in 2000, Toyota made its initial move into the NASCAR ranks with the introduction of a V6-powered Celica in the Goody's Dash Series. In a short period of three years, Robert Huffman won 10 races and earned Toyota it's first-ever NASCAR championship when he claimed the 2003 driver's title.

Today’s Toyota American racing program is known as the TRD or Toyota Racing Development. TRD is a source of high-performance aftermarket products for both road performance and grassroots racing Toyotas. TRD has a key role in providing improved performance image to Toyota racing purposes.
